ABOUT THIS PIECE:

Fusing Thomas Tallis' 'Third Mode Melody' and the 'Last Post', Cantatio Publishing are pleased to release this brand new arrangement from the pen of Adam D J Taylor. Tallis' hauntingly beautiful melody is expertly intertwined with the Last Post to create a reflective piece of music that would suit any band programme throughout the year, but especially around Remembrance Sunday.

ENSEMBLE:

  • Flexible ensemble. 5 players to full band.  Looking for the quintet arrangement? Click HERE

WHEN YOU BUY THIS PRODUCT, YOU GET:

  • PDF FLEXI EDITION arrangement for 5 players to full band

LEVEL:

  • This piece is slow and reflective, with few technical challenges. It is occasionally a little lofty for players. The main challenges are in good, basic ensemble playing.

ABOUT CANTATIO FLEXI EDITION:

CANTATIO FLEXI EDITION came about as a result of the ‘Corona Virus’ pandemic in 2020. With ever-changing restrictions on the number of players allowed to perform together, it became evident that the music we play needed to be flexible enough to account for regular changes in ensemble structure.

Each piece in our FLEXI EDITION collection can be played by as few as five players all the way up to full brass band (and many combinations in between!). In each piece, five parts are identified as primary parts (P1, P2, P3, P4 & P5). When playing as a quintet, these parts should be used in the first instance. Most of these primary parts are provided to you in multiple transpositions with suggested instrumentation to allow flexibility in the instrumentation used in your quintet. We would advise against using instruments different to those suggested in the provided alternate transposed parts (for example, we wouldn't recommend using an Eb Bass to play P1!).

For ensembles of more than five players, the additional corresponding part for the instrument can be used (2nd & 3rd cornet or 1st trombone, for example) – much in the same way brass bands play Christmas carols and hymns. As ever, you may wish to consider balance in much the same way when deciding which parts your ensemble should play

If you have any questions, or require other transpositions (parts only), please do not hesitate to contact us.
